Optimal Boiler Temperature Settings for Vancouver Winters

Condensing Boiler Temperatures
Condensing boilers achieve maximum efficiency (95%+) when the return water temperature is below 55°C. Lower flow temperatures (50-60°C) allow more condensing than higher temperatures (70-80°C). Set the flow temperature as low as your home comfort allows.
Weather Compensation
Weather compensation automatically adjusts boiler temperature based on outdoor temperature — higher on cold days, lower on mild days. This maximizes efficiency during mild weather when the boiler runs at lower temperatures for longer periods. Weather compensation saves 5-15% on gas.
Recommended Settings
For modern condensing boilers, set the heating flow temperature to 60-65°C for winter and 50-55°C for shoulder seasons. Radiant floor heating needs lower temperatures (35-45°C). Adjust the DHW temperature to 50-55°C for comfort and efficiency.
