Program Overview
The Canada Greener Homes Loan provides up to $40,000 at 0% interest for 10 years to homeowners for qualifying energy efficiency upgrades. Eligible upgrades include: heat pump installation (up to $40,000), solar panels, attic and wall insulation, high-efficiency windows and doors, and smart thermostats (when combined with other upgrades).
Eligibility and Application
You must: own and live in your home, have a home energy assessment completed by a registered energy advisor, and receive at least one recommendation from the assessment. The loan covers 100% of the upgrade cost up to $40,000 at 0% interest. Repayment is over 10 years with equal monthly payments.
Combining with CleanBC Rebates
The Canada Greener Homes Loan can be combined with CleanBC Better Homes rebates. Stacking example: heat pump installation costs $10,000. CleanBC rebate pays $4,000. Canada Loan covers the remaining $6,000 at 0% interest. Your monthly payment is $50 for 10 years — interest-free. Apply through a registered energy advisor.
