Before Installation — Verify Eligibility
Confirm the specific equipment model is on the eligible products list for the rebate program. Check the program website or ask your contractor. Verify your contractor is registered with the rebate program. Get pre-approval if the program requires it. Ask for written confirmation of eligibility before purchasing — do not rely on verbal assurances.
During Installation — Document Everything
Take photos of the old equipment (with serial number) before removal. Take photos of the new equipment installation (with serial number). Keep all receipts, invoices, and the installation contract. Ensure your contractor provides a Certificate of Installation or similar signed document. Keep the manufacturer warranty registration confirmation.
After Installation — Submit the Application
Your contractor typically submits the rebate application on your behalf — confirm this in writing. Applications must usually be submitted within 60-90 days of installation. Keep copies of everything submitted. Follow up if you have not received the rebate within 8 weeks. Contact your contractor first, then the rebate program directly if there is no progress.
